Cooper Truck Tire Review
On a scale of one to five, the Cooper Weather Master M+S Passenger / Performance tires only deserve around a three. The pros for these tires include the fact that they offer a good level of traction in most conditions including snow, and the fact that they are not too terribly expensive at around $83 per tire. The cons for the Cooper Weather Master M+S Passenger / Performance tires is the fact that they cannot seem to handle ice at all, and in general are slightly noisier than most other tires. The bottom line is that these are good tires to use during the winter, but they simply do not seem capable of lasting all year long.
The Cooper Weather Master M+S Passenger / Performance tires performed very well on both packed and unpacked snow, being able to handle around seven inches of unpacked snow very well, and moderately well when dealing with packed snow. These are capable of being studded, which is recommended for situations involving ice, because these tires did not seem to perform well in any point where there was ice around. The traction of these tires was very good, however, when driving over loosely ground up snow.
The Cooper Weather Master M+S Passenger / Performance tires are fairly forgiving when it comes to losing grip. You do not have to worry about being surprised if you suddenly lose control. The car is not invincible with these tires by any means, but it does seem to be far more forgiving than with other tire brands.
Because Cooper Weather Master M+S Passenger / Performance tires have aggressive treads, they seem to produce more road noise than many other tire brands. Most people who have experienced this either do not notice, or do not mind. On the subject of aggressive treads in these tires, it really is not surprising that if you continue to drive them during the summer months, you will wear the tread pattern down further than in winter months. If you plan on using these tires for the winter, you may want to keep a summer set of tires around just in case you find that your driving is wearing the tires down too quickly. Cooper Weather Master M+S Passenger / Performance tires also handle well on dry pavement, which is an improvement over other tires manufactured by this brand. You may feel some slip in the front end of the vehicle if it is wet outside, but the Cooper Weather Master M+S Passenger / Performance tires do not have any trouble with hydroplaning. All in all this is not a bad set of tires, although it is slightly pricey. If you do a lot of driving in the winter, especially in all-terrain applications, these may be the tires for you.
